Tour description
The remains of the sunken city of Cissa, which existed from ancient times until the end of the 4th century, can be found under the sea of today’s Caska. Novalja was the port of Cissa and one of the most important hubs on the maritime waterway from the Mediterranean to the ancient city of Aquileia.
The impressive monuments of the cities of Zadar and Šibenik bear witness to their importance throughout history. A unique medieval festival with knightly games, the story of the city’s patron saint, and Renaissance and Gothic portals are just some of the interesting things of the medieval town of Rab.
An ancient bronze statue of the athlete Apoxyomena was found near the island of Lošinj. It is a sensational discovery, since it is the only large bronze statue found so far on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, and the best-preserved statue of the nine variants of the Apoxyomene prototype known so far.
